Lotus Notes to Outlook converter
If you are migrating Lotus Notes user’s email messages, calendar information and tasks to Exchange 2000 Server by using Migration Wizard for Exchange 2000, there might be some users, who report that all their tasks have not been imported to their Outlook Tasks folder. Migration Wizard migrates only the tasks included in the Notes calendar. However, these tasks are migrated differently in Notes R5 than in Notes 4.6 as described below:
- In Notes 4.6 mailbox database, there is a Display task on my calendar option for every task. Task is not displayed in the calendar by default setting.
- In Notes 5.0 mailbox database, the database is not having this option. It creates preferences for all the tasks instead of creating one for each individual task but causes the same problem.
The above mentioned causes do not allow all task information to be imported to Outlook. However, to deal with this issue, follow the procedure given below on the tasks in Notes 4.6 calendar. Additionally, you can also refer to Notes Help for further assistance:
- Open your Notes mailbox in Notes 4.6x client
- Change to the To Do folder
- Open an existing task that was not migrated
- Click the Display task on my calendar button. The button will change to Remove from calendar.
Now save the task - Run Migration Wizard for Exchange 2000 again and the task is migrated to Exchange 2000.
Use the procedure given below to resolve the problem of task import in Notes R5 calendar:
- Open your Notes mailbox within a Notes R5 client
- Change to the To-Do section and then click Preferences on the Tools menu
- On the Calendar tab, click the To-Do tab
- Select the Always show current to do’s in today’s calendar option
- Click OK
- Run Migration Wizard for Exchange 2000 again. The task is migrated to Exchange 2000
However, this migration wizard does not migrate task information from Lotus Notes to Exchange 2000 within the wizard steps, it simply sends an email to the migrated user including an attachment. User has to import the attachment that comprises of Task and Calendar information.
The procedure given above might seem to be full of pains, however to purge them, you can use a superlative Lotus Notes to Outlook converter. These third party Lotus Notes to Outlook converter are designed specifically to migrate Notes data to Outlook without much fuss.
